How to fluff up your cast-on stitch

I recommend that you review this tutorial before you start:

Planting point and planting roses

Indeed, the basic process of creating a starting point is covered in more detail here, and there is also a good reference video tutorial if you are having trouble understanding how to make rings. You can also see a clearer process of making rings in this hydrangea video tutorial .

In comparison, the first thing I did was the "regular" starting point.

The problem with this stitch is that the final shape is narrow and thin because it hugs the needle very closely and it is not always suitable for "soft" colors. In the Hydrangea project , I created the attachment points with 1 single wire and made them smaller to make them bigger.

However, for example, if you want to use 2 strands of yarn and want to enlarge the flowers without spreading them apart, you should use the following method.

1. Let's start with the same. The needle is first pulled out from the needle start point, then inserted at the point where you want the needle to end, and without passing the needle, rises to the start point.

Firstly, there is no problem with the positioning of the needle, in fact, I do this so as not to get tangled in the thread.

For the “regular” selection point, we start throwing rings into the needle, and for the “sponge” ...

2. Add more needles. Just insert it next to the working needle (I personally didn't notice any difference in the result, no matter if the extra needle is added on the left or right. Then position it in a more convenient place for you).

3. And then we put it on the leaves in the same way, but on both knitting needles at the same time. When tying, make sure that the thread is not overtightened, so that there is a small gap between the needles and it does not break.

4. What I added to my process that I noticed other professional glues do is pull the thread under the needle as a finishing touch. I can't say why it works so far, but it works for me. Makes the seam a little tighter and reduces the "risk" of breaking the rings.

5. So we have the crochet stitch obtained here and you can see that it is at least twice the size of the original.

The degree of "softness" depends on the size of the rings, so for larger dimensions, you can increase the distance between the needles or use some kind of additional material.

Here, for example, I used a tip cut from a gel pen and simply put it on a needle.

The loading point was just as smooth.

Remember

All the necessary tricks to always stay the same in the sponge version for general mountaineering.

  • Do not pull too hard on the cable;
  • Try to correctly apply colors to the needle;
  • Always hold the rings with your thumb as you pass the needle through the end;
  • I did not have a very comfortable needle, but it is better to use it as an addition.

Let's practice this skill and make a small flower!

First, position the center of the flower by making some notes in French (or you can use any other method) .

You can then connect the following points:

THAT

THIS

Ebi (dot ends before start, not upside down).

And so we continue until full bloom.

I hope this helps you create beautiful flowers for your next project! take care of us! :)
