Embroidery lifehack: use fusible interlining instead of traditional lining

Fusible interlining instead of traditional lining in embroidery

So, here's my little "embroidery technique" - the traditional sun coating on the wall.

If you have been on my blog for a while, you may already know that I am not a fan of needlework, which is very important in many situations. So I found an option like a real lazy food friend.

Read on to find out how to get rid of all the traps. Replace with something cheap. Effective :)

First, if you don't know what a coating is.

What is coverage?

An embroidered cover is not the same as a seam. In embroidery, the word "liner" refers to the fabric attached to the seam ("face").

This is necessary in the following cases.

A) The main fabric is very thin and transparent.
B) The base fabric is related to the design aspect (high quality, color matching), but cannot withstand stitches: thick embroidery, bijouterie, embroidery group, bijouterie, appliqué և tattoo. Some fabrics may not provide enough support for sewing (they are too light or the fabric is too loose) so they need support.

In such cases, the stapler may use an extra piece of cloth to lift it off the floor. Naturally, no one wants to waste a fine piece of fabric used for embroidery, so a cheap medium-sized cotton muslin is a common solution.

Now, how to use traditional embroidery (why am I bored)?

First you need to cut out the appropriate piece of fabric, one for the cover և one for the seam.

Second , you need to reduce both. The contraction is usually painful (because I'm lazy), but the initial contraction of the two tissues exacerbates the pain equally.

* Let's be honest. I prefer not to cut the original fabric too soon. Over time, I have developed my own methods for eliminating creases that can occur after washing, so there is no need to cut in advance.

But if you have to use two layers of fabric because of the pile, a preliminary cutting is necessary, since after washing it can deteriorate in a different way, spoiling the appearance of the fabric.

Third , you need to balance them with grain. You may not have a fabric with a vertical և horizontal and vertical grain on the ring, and a fabric with a diagonal hem may be on the bottom. No, they must be in the correct order.

Fourth , you need to place them in a circle, one above the other, making sure they are evenly spaced apart. Which is not an easy task. You can make a mistake with one piece of fabric. Especially if it has two layers. And if you can't evenly distribute them (for example, one is not stretched enough, and the other is very stretched), expect the appearance of bubbles, creases and creams. Of course, you can rub the fabric against each other before rolling, but this does not mean that both fabrics are waterproof.

Fifth , line շրջանակ After sewing the main fabric, start sewing in two layers. If your sewing requires more than one session, you will need to remove the fabric from the ring and reinsert it for the next session. And again, this will mean that you will have to spend money on these processes.

I think it's understandable why I find the traditional line boring now, and I'll do my best to avoid it.

The fact is that in some cases you really need a cover.

So, is there anything I can do to get the same result as with traditional textiles, but at the same time, can I avoid the problem of fitting and stretching two pre-thick fabrics?

There is a solution. And very easy!

What is an interface?

The interface is often used in tailoring. This is a unique type of fabric that helps hold the fabric in place, supporting it and making it more durable. Think of the cloth collars, belts, and bags that keep their eggs in.

There are several types of interfaces. Need an interface that melts on one side of the adhesive layer for embroidery. And since our goal is not to create a thick and strong material, it should be light enough to provide a little extra support to the fabric.

This is the interface I am using. Very simple , not closed . On one side are small bubbles with glue inside. When you use heat and pressure, the adhesive will spread. Here is an analog that I found on Amazon, this is not a link, this is an example that I found. In fact, it's better to go to a sewing store to find the right one .

How to use line spacing in embroidery.

  1. Place the interface side by side on the metal board with the base fabric facing up and down. You don't need to evaluate anything. Just make sure the closed side of the stabilizer is aligned with the wrong side of the base fabric . Iron the wrong side of the fabric from the front side.
  2. Metal settings. Dry heat depending on the type of fabric
  3. Put the metal all over the fabric so that each piece of fabric warms up for at least a few seconds.

The problem is that we don't need to load the interface correctly.

Strength is not our goal, so here we can relax a bit. That's why this sandwich is made of metal on the base fabric and not on the wrong side, so that heat is not transferred directly to the base.

You can check how it's stored if it's held securely, but you can still remove it if you drag it to a corner, which is fine.

Benefits of line spacing in embroidery.

1. It's cheap;

2. Basically, the fabric provides enough support to handle heavy stitches, but makes the fabric more flexible (but only if it's light. Some materials can make the fabric too strong, so be careful when choosing) . !);

3. If the back sheet is too transparent, the wool will remove this defect. Small "tails" of broken wires do not appear at the back.

4. There are no creams and lotions in sight. When the stabilizer is pressed during metal fabrication, the fabric retains its shape. It is no longer possible to stretch too much, which is why it is repeated so often;

5. After the last stitch, you don't have to worry about adjusting the fabric on the ring if it's a little loose. I mean, of course, you have to readjust. But thanks to the connection, the fabric does not shrink, while maintaining the same elasticity, so do not panic.

6. Don't waste other fabrics on stars. Instead, you can use extra fabric for sewing or training;

7. First, there is no need to shorten or double anything;

8. And an added bonus - protects the fabric from decay. The main feature of ቶች Highlights attachments.

Discomfort.

1. You cannot wash the finished fabric, because the interface may fall off or the egg may be lost. If you're a fan of water-based markers, this is definitely your downside.

However, there are two solutions.

Just convert your fabric design ( easy method , but with lead/metal/carbon paper) to another transfer method;

Or you can remove the stabilizer by cutting off the cut part. As I mentioned above, it's still possible if you don't plug it in completely. The base fabric loses some support, but if you just want to install it now, it's fine. Alternatively, if you still need this support, you can reapply the interface after washing and drying the fabric.

2. When the stabilizer is applied, the base fabric is not very flexible , which makes the assembly process difficult.

But again, there is a solution. You can completely remove or trim the back so that the back is only at the top of the cardboard. Or, again, you can cut off the notched part, as in a sewing machine.

eventually

Remember that there are different types of inserts. Some make the fabric look like cardboard, and the folds tear like paper. There are various types of combinations. You can use it the same way, except you need to squash it with a base sheet. So, like I said, try it on fabric first.

Personal browsing

Special embroidered fabrics are often very expensive for me, so I prefer to use beautiful fabrics that I find in sewing stores. Especially in lingerie, often with a large gallery, there are colors that I love. Of course, this type of underwear often has some unusual features և Stroke, unlike the real fabric. But in my case, these shortcomings make it more attractive.
I admire the countryside, haha.

The problem is that the fabric is lighter and the fabric may taste slightly lighter.

In the picture above, I used my favorite cotton fabrics for embroidery, and on the upper right are examples of bed linen. This line is not obvious. But it is too loose for thick seams like embroidery, and can sometimes be too loose.

This situation calls for cultural lines . But in my case, I just prefer the line break, I get everything - the support I need for my project, the peace of mind to save myself from initial setbacks - and so on.

If you are not a fan of traditional embroidery, here is a little tip :) Try it

See you!
