Lattice work basics

From today let’s take a look at a sewing technique called Latis. I have 3 lessons scheduled, the first only with the main one.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but the terminology of hand embroidery can sometimes be a bit confusing. One book is called "A", the other - "B", on the Internet you can find articles that give it a different name ...

In this situation, you can use false tactics. Some sources call it simply “lattice sewing” or “netting”. This is the name for which I learned this technique, so I will use the same word. However, you can also use the words "lattice", "lattice", "controlled work", etc.

In short, this technique is common in brutal embroidery (aka Jacob’s embroidery), so if you want to learn more about lattice, I think it’s best to delve into this section. Personally, I still feel comfortable with the terminology, paying more attention to the different ways of sewing.

And there are actually many ways.

Today I will just show you the basics. The framework of this strategy. But next time you explore the great possibilities of playing with this seam, it will be a lot of fun. :)

Everything is easy!

First, you need to remove someone.

And now about this network ... I usually invest in it without accurate measurements, to be honest. If you use fine linen, of course, you will be able to count the holes in the fabric in the seam. This will simplify the network. However, I usually use cotton, I don’t want to sew every stitch with a ruler և, so I do it with my own eyes.

Obviously it’s not perfect, haha. Look, some of the blocks that make up the network are not the same, but sorry :)

However, if you want your network to be perfect, I suggest you use a ruler or hole counter.

When our networks are ready, we start laying cables in their nodes.

For the main railings it is enough to sew only a diagonal bench that the thread was kept in place. However, make sure that all diagonal seams work in one direction. Discrepancies in this can seriously affect the appearance of the network. Be careful!

Even with such a strategy you can get interesting results.

For example, you can change the color of the thread to create a special effect :)

The grille itself is an open gasket. This makes the context easily visible to the viewer. However, you can cover the fabric with a certain color and then stretch the net. In this case, you will need satin stitches or long and short .

For this example, I use satin paper to show policy. But I hope you understand that cellular work with a color mix on long and short seams will look like a bomb. :)

So first we make a satin stitch for the groin and then lay it out on the net (sorry for the color scheme of the minions, I just noticed that, yeah).

Then slide the thread into the intersection. Here I used cross stitch, two diagonal stitches superimposed on each other. However, the cross-stitch sequence may also be present here. I mean, if you make the first one with a certain egg (for example, first there was a diagonal from right to left, then from left to right), then you have to keep doing the same thing until the end. This is actually noticeable when the seams are separated, և the eye wrinkles when you look at work.

And it's over. It's really easy. It doesn’t look very pretty even if you work with one color.

So we did the main work, but the most wonderful was ahead. Next time we will try to put different types of nets along the threads of different shapes. You will be amazed at how many individuals are in this strategy. This is my favorite part, I can’t wait.
