Today matters: the new journal spread
My new diary is growing slowly but surely, Elhamdulilah! Introducing two new pages.
In fact, this spread was almost a while ago (if you follow me on Instagram, you probably know about the stories). But for a long time I could not write about it because of mixed feelings about the project on the left.
It was a difficult journey.
I was very inspired when I drew it in the notebook and painted it with watercolors and I wanted to experiment. Then came the idea to add watercolors to the background.
I took an extra piece to see how strong or faint the watercolors would look when they dry, as they lose some saturation over time from my previous experience .
However, the end result is absolutely amazing! The color has lost some of its richness, but is still a good fit for the project.
My mistake was that I rushed to sew it, decided to use fabric with the remaining color, regardless of size.
Although the cut size was appropriate for the model, it did not match the ring I was wearing. And even after placing these pieces on top of each other, one of the four corners of the watercolor did not fit into the ring to hold the two layers.
However, unbalanced tension produces wrinkles. This is the source of my internal conflict: D
First, I do not like this part very much! I had fun working on it, did some experiments with watercolors and crescent beads and it made me happy when I saw them!
But on the other hand, someone learning the craft, it would be nice to show it in all its splendor when we usually avoid it, hahaha.
Yes, it happens at the end of the day! Something.
And that does not stop me from liking this job less. Plus, it’s a valuable reminder not to rush next time :)
And another important reminder (at least for me) is the daily routine, even today. I ignored my haste.
I think this expansion is a matter of patience for me. Take a break, breathe, think about what you are doing now and why. Pay attention to what lies ahead.
Therefore, I advocate that journalism is a therapeutic experience :)
