6 things to do when you're facing a creative block
Although this article is intended for Needlepoint and Needlepoint artists, I believe that this topic is important for all people who work creatively or have a hobby and artistic inspiration. Read this list of tips and tailor them to your creative tastes and interests.
What is a creative block?
Think about it when you are bored. You get stuck in a job that you don't know how to finish. When you feel the need to move away from that, embrace the same style or idea that you repeat over and over again. Or stuck without inspiration for anything.
Apparently, it’s Alyssa who ate the “biggest grain” cake and ran to the roof. This attitude is certainly disturbing and stifling, but there is good news!
Sticking together means that you have often exceeded your previous position (for example, if we are talking specifically about embroidery, your previous style). This means that once you cross the creative block, you’re likely to demolish the roof and grow artistically.
What to do if you have a creative template:
Don't strain or tire yourself.
Inspiration rarely comes in times of stress and usually in times of peace ... so I noticed.
I mean, yes, there are times when you are working on something and the deadline is approaching, so you're very worried that you're not ready for anything! True, this can be bypassed-but not unless you're a techie who knows what he's doing.
Most of us know from high school and college when we leave homework and homework untouched until the last day. If you do that and you think your results are always good in terms of deadlines ... well, controversial!
But yes. I’m not your mother, so it’s up to you to leave it until the last minute. But at least prepare the basics of the final idea before the deadline - you can do it with the following tips. It will probably be easier for you to complete the task when it comes to developing your "ideas" for the future.
If you have not prepared the floor, but the results are now necessary - try at least a stress-free storm of thought. The following tips can be used in a limited amount of time. Try to maintain a positive belief!
Stress in general is not a healthy thing and it is reflected in our body and mind ... so try to reduce it as much as possible :)
And, of course, if there is no deadline and you are disappointed that your inspiration has run out, don't force yourself and your "inspiration" to come. This will usually come with their own terms.
And, of course, if there is no deadline and you are disappointed that your inspiration has run out, don't force yourself and your "inspiration" to come. This will usually come with their own terms.
What to do:
Well, basically, be stronger and get more positive inspiration. I’ll include some ideas for doing this!
1. Wash your head and mix yourself up with something
Although it may seem like relaxation, mindfulness is very fruitful as it opens up more space for new and fresh ideas. You can do yoga, do breathing exercises, walk, listen to the birds and smell the flowers. Or just watch videos with cats? Find something that will fill you with laughter and new impressions.
2. Activate your senses : sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste
When I say activation, I mean to make new impressions out of those feelings. Listen to something new (pure music, maybe an audiobook or a podcast - it's the impression you're still listening to). Delicious food you want to taste. If you’re limited to candy, use some dough! If you only eat vegetables, try eating ratatouille. You see the uniform, right? Find something new and challenging.
But you don’t have to use all five senses, you know? Quiet.
However, in terms of vision, you can choose to activate it comfortably or vigorously. I’ve written before about a visual marathon that I find personally impressive . But remember: a live marathon is not something you often have to do!
3. Find what you want
Suppose there is an embroidery that completely fascinates you. It could be something you find on Pinterest, something from your favorite embroidery work, or something you see in a museum. Explore this section in more detail!
What fascinates you the most? Technology? Use sewing? Or maybe the color palette speaks to you in a special way. Maybe you like the shape of the embroidery or especially the design and all the elements to work together. Is there a special mood or style?
Try to find someone who resonates with you and inspires and motivates you to develop / change your style.
By the way, it doesn't have to be embroidered! It can be a favorite photo, illustration or costume. Find what you want and ask yourself why and exactly what attracts you and how you can turn this magic into your business.
4. Pull something
There’s definitely a reason why painting and drawing has become so popular with adults lately. It is a great tool not only to relieve stress but also to stimulate the imagination. Drawing how good you are will help you to put it back on paper. Your pens and thoughts will guide you.
In terms of pattern and painting, I personally believe that drawing skills are at least half the success of pure embroidery. That is, you become accustomed to small strokes when you draw, learn to develop good hand skills, and work with color.
So teaching drawing skills can help you improve your long-term sewing! :)
5. Try new points or techniques
You may not feel it, but in most cases it should be the point you choose. I'm really the same! In general, I would not say that something is wrong. But if we’re talking about eliminating the creative fall, how do we expand our horizons a little bit and build something you can’t do at other times?
Alternatively, you can try out a work and embroidery design that you never thought possible. Something common. Or read the embroidery books of young writers you don't know yet. It will also broaden your focus.
6. Manage your time on social media
If you see that you spend a lot of time on social media, games, and programs, this may be the reason for your creativity. Because Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter attract a lot of your attention and you spend a lot of money. The more time you spend there, the less active and hopeful you will be during the day. Is this a familiar word?
I'm not asking you to give up your account or your game altogether. Manage your time - make sure you don't spend more than 30-60 minutes a day on your favorite platform. Once you have done this, you will see that a lot of creative juices will start to flow and will be inspired soon :)
The list goes on and I hope some ideas come in handy for your creativity.
Remember not to sit on the couch empty and cry because there is no new inspiration. That, of course, will not help. Be more active, take the first step to your inspiration, nurture your inspiration. Create the right environment for your brain (and home) to embrace new ideas.
Also, remember that inspiration can come at unexpected times: washing clothes, exercising, and being a guest. So make sure you always write a notebook and write down your thoughts!
