Colorful and spiritual: new design is already in store!
Check out my new designs on the Etsy store ! More info below :)
Unexpectedly, this design took longer to complete...due to unsuccessful attempts at travel and relocation. One of the new things I've learned about myself over the past few months is that it's very difficult to embroider in a new place. are you related
Well, the design is done! Better late than never, right?
I want to say a lot about this design and leave a lot unsaid for you to find some special meaning in it... :)
Thought
Let's discuss the concept first.
Surprisingly, I originally wanted to embroider a lotus flower and that's it. Then came the colors - an unusual palette for me. Then came the idea of the shape of the flower... I decided not to keep the top petals as symmetrical as the bottom petals. At first it was just my belief, and only then did I realize why it made sense.
What this flower meant to me was fully understood during Ramadan when I was fasting. In your soul it is a time when you are particularly focused on your relationship with God and it is perhaps one of the most fascinating times of the year for many Muslims. And as I worked on this design, I noticed how certain elements resonated with me and my understanding of "spirit."
You will notice that the upper eyelids are not completely symmetrical. The color palette is also warmer and more intense. To me, they represent the "fire" of the newborn soul... I believe that each of us can give our personal meaning to the concept of "fire" that lives in our soul, and I won't give you mine to think about him. alone. However, in the context of the model, I see it as a positive force :)
Instead, the bottom covers are arranged symmetrically and have a cooler color palette, although they do warm up as you get closer to the center. What do you think? I personally call it "calm sea". Its position is reminiscent of the water surface. Its colors become calmer and calmer.
These two groups of petals balance each other and create a special harmony. Irregularity and symmetry, fire and water, chaos and order, unrest and calm. You can see so many things in this unit!
Also this lottery is only a reflection of the positive power of our soul. Even though I'm aware that we all carry darkness within us... Maybe I'll go into that later in another work. So I want to keep this clean and shiny :)

This flower is called "Anima" . This Latin word means "life, soul, breath, vitality".
Long and short point exercises + color therapy
Have you noticed how colorful this flower is?
You know, while I was working I realized that color therapy is a real thing. It's hard to put into words, but it's true that it has affected my mind and soul. When I saw it I felt healed inside. Just an incredible feeling of happiness and comfort haha. Perhaps the world around us is a new, colorful, multi-layered appreciation?
Most flowers are made with long and short points . You have to fill the petals with up to 8 colors! It may seem difficult, but thanks to the constant color changes, you don't realize how easy and fast it is. I mean, it's a relative term "fast". Personally, the upper middle eyelid lasts about 7 hours (remember I'm photographing my steps and that takes time too) but I didn't realize how much time had passed. So be careful, it's addictive!
Other points you will work on in this design are staff, split point, coral stitch, French knot, satin stitch, and backstitch . If you're a regular reader of flower dots, you should know all of these dots (and if you don't, visit the dots library for tutorials). As always, I have included an explanation of the points in my PDF tutorial.
By the way, as a reader of this blog, you have the added benefit of having to explain in detail how to fill long and short dots with solid colors using this design as an example!
Working on this design has been quite an arduous journey and I LOVE it with a lot of new things I learned both in terms of hand embroidery, sewing and exploring myself while seated.
"Anima" is now available for purchase in my Etsy shop , so check it out. I am curious to see what experiences you will have during your work and what meaning you will receive personally :)
