The "Art of cozy" project: Part 2
I am still working on the design of Art of Coziness, which is basically a mixed media project that combines sewing, fabric dyeing and applique. If you missed it, you can read the first part and see how I do the coloring phase.
Last time I left the project at the fabric selection stage for the application. And I also thought of painting the rest of the fabric with watercolors and then using them as applied material. However, after meditating a bit on this idea, I came to the conclusion that watercolors are in danger of fading, as my main painting is already quite dim and even the painted window is not as “white” as I would have liked. .. I have decided that slim applications are not suitable for me in these particular circumstances.
Instead, I dug into my quantity of fabrics and chose the fabrics that were best for me (I was not sure about the cup at the time).
By the way, a little advice that may be useful to you. If you do not have the monochrome fabric you need, look for patterned fabric. If the model is small and not too bright, it may work well instead of a single one. Or maybe the model objects will be far enough apart that you can use that space between them. "Here is what I did for the vase.
I then applied leading to all my applications. I intentionally cut the pieces of fabric a little longer than they should, so that I could easily clean the wool and then cut the egg in all the corners.
Then I cut the numbers out of carbon paper, ...
and Cut them from fabric. You can see that I can use a smaller portion for this. But in the end it's still okay because I almost never use my fabric stock. So I do not feel very sorry. BUT if not, try to collect your horses to save some material.
This is what it looked like when all the parts of the app were cut and placed on the main fabric.
When tying the attachment, you can use threads of the same color to make it almost invisible by working with small stitches.
I worked these little running stitches all over my body. And oh, I'm so grateful I got the right item for each item. I would not like to buy a new yarn just for this little experiment: D:
However, these little points are not everything. To make the objects more visible, I used a darker thread of suitable color, contouring each of them, adding additional details to places like curtain folds, book pages, coffee.
He worked on a book, a vase and a cup (the cup will probably change a little more!) ...
But the curtain did not go so well, ha ha. I think because it has turned into a dark situation. So I really want to try using a little lighter on the left curtain. If it is better, I will say it again :)
So in addition to refining and repairing current items, I still have some stitches. I look forward to starting work in this direction.
I do not yet have a clear embroidery plan. I think I want the main flowers to be yellow-orange, I want something warm, unlike the humor colors used for the app. I wonder how it will be.
I hope to show you the final result in the next post. Wait for him. :)
